Column 2Lucinda Langley was born April 15, 1833 in Hancock Co., Ill., and died at her late home one mile south of Ft. Green Feb. 17, 1907, aged 73 years 9 months 28 days. She was united in marriage to John Munson July 28, 1853. To this union were born ten children, seven of whom are living and all being at their mother's bedside during her late illness. They are: Mrs. Jane Pritchard, Alvin, Marion and Lacy, of Carthage, Eli, of Joetta, Jerry of near Plymouth, and Joe, of near Adrian. These together with 21 grandchildren and an aged sister in Missouri who is also in very poor health, are left to mourn her loss. Mr. Munson died March 3, 1901. Mr. and Mrs. Munson lived on a farm near Oak Grove until about twelve years ago when they moved to their late home where they spent the rest or their days. Two years ago Mrs. Munson to Carthage to live with her son "Doc," but not being satisfied with town, she moved back to her farm last spring where she thought to be happy and enjoy life. But God willed it otherwise and not a well day did she see from that time on. Yet, she bore her suffering and intense pain with the greatest patience. All that loving hearts and willing hands could do was done but to no avail, mother was so tired and her Father called her home. She united with the Christian church at Oak Grove June 28, 1893 and remained a member of that church until her death. She was a good neighbor always honest and true, a kind and devoted wife, a loving, indulgent mother and her every thought and care always being for the interest and welfare of her children. Funeral was held from the home Tuesday Feb. 19, at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. Wood of Ft. Green, after which her remains were taken to the old brick church cemetery where once stood an old school house where she attended church more than a half century ago and laid beside her husband to rest to await the resurrection morn.
