Such was the inscription on the lid of the casket in which the body of John Munson was born to the cemetery last Tuesday morning and laid away to mingle with its kindred dust. Mr. Munson was well known in Hancock township. He was born Jan. 5th, 1832, in Canada near Novrstock; in 1848 he came with his parents to Hancock County, settling near Carthage, where they resided some time; he then moved to Oak Grove; his mother died December 24th, 1863; his father died in 1884, age 84 years, having gone back to Canada to reside with his daughter. He was married to Lucinda Langley July 28th, 1853; to this union were born ten children, eight boys and two girls, two boys and one girl having passed away. There are left to mourn him widow and seven children--Mrs. Jane Prichard, Eli D., Alvin A., Jerry E., Joseph L., Marion A., Lacey T., and twenty grandchildren. Mr. Munson joined the Baptist church when quite young but in 1893 he united with the Christian church at Oak Grove, where he was a member until his death, which occurred Sunday, March 3, at 5:30 p. m. The funeral was held at the family residence Tuesday, March 5th conducted by Rev. H. M. Bloomer, who spoke words of comfort and hope to the family and friends, after which the remains were interred in the brick church cemetery, southwest of this place, to rest, to await the resurrection morn.

Hetty, Joetta: John Munson died March 3rd, aged 69. He was born in Canada and came with his parents to Hancock county in 1848, settling near Carthage, then moving to Oak Grove. He was married to Miss Lucinda Laughley in 1853 and they were the parents of ten children, of whom seven with the widow survived: Mrs. Jane Prichard, Eli D., Alvin A., Jerry E., Joseph L., Marion A., Lacey T., and twenty grandchildren. The funeral was held from the home March 5th, Rev. H. M. Bloomer officiating. Interment in the brick church cemetery.
