Married 50 Years

MR. AND MRS. LEE MUNSON, Plymouth, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday with an open house in PlymouthMiss Inez Ware and Lee Munson were married Dec. 24, 1919, in Carthage.  Judge Warren H. Orr read the ceremony.  Their attendants were the bridegroom's brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Lillie Munson.  They lived in the Providence vicinity near Plymouth and have always lived in or near Plymouth except 11 years when they lived in Denver where they owned and operated a general store.  They sold the store about eight years ago and moved into Plymouth.  They have one son, Albert of Sidney, Neb.; and two daughters, Mrs. Vera VanBrooker and Mrs. Pearl Whitaker, Plymouth.

Inez G. Munson

Inez G. Munson, 101, of Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage, Ill. formerly of Plymouth, Ill. passed away at 5 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2001 in the Home.  She was born on January 9, 1900 in Tioga, Ill. the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Simmons) Ware.  She married Lee Munson on December 24, 1919.  He died December 11, 1971.  She had been a schoolteacher and with her husband operated a gas station in Plymouth and later Munsons Grocery in Denver, Ill.  She was a member of the former Tioga Methodist Church and a member of Browning Chapter #262 Order of Eastern Star in Denver, Ill.

Survivors are: two daughters, Vera VanBrooker of Plymouth, Ill. and Pearl McGlaughlin and her husband Kenny of Colchester; six grandchildren, Jerry, Dan and Mike Munson, Janice Scarborough, Rick VanBrooker and Marcia Gilbert.  She is also survived by step-grandchildren and numerous great grand and great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, Albert Munson, a granddaughter, Pat VanBrooker, a grandson, Gary VanBrooker and six sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 27, in the Hamilton Funeral Home in Plymouth with Rev. Phillip Nelson officiating.  Burial was in Irwin Cemetery near Plymouth.  Visitation were held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Funeral Home in Plymouth.  Memorials may be made to Irwin Cemetery.
