Mrs. Lucy J. Mourning was born Dec. 14, 1860, in Hancock Co., Ill. Was married to Silas Mourning March 16, 1881.
She died at home in Ft. Madison, Ia., June 17, 1893, after an illness extending over seven month, which she bore with wonderful fortitude and a strong determination, which for many weeks seemed to baffle even the approach of death. During her long sickness the attention of a found and devoted husband and other relatives was unstinted, but neither the best medical skill or tender nursing could stay the disease which for many years had made inroads on a constitution never strong, and now a husband, father, mother, three sisters, one brother and many other friends mourn her loss.
The remains were brought to Majorville cemetery for interment. Service was conducted by W. P. Weakly.
