Page 46Death of John Mosley.
After a long and painful illness John Mosley died at his home in this city at 7:30 a. m. Friday, April 5.
Mr. Mosley was born in the eastern part of the county, Feb. 13, 1853, and there grew to manhood. On June 22, 1884, he was married to Miss Nellie Price, of LaHarpe, who survives to mourn his loss. Shortly after his marriage he moved to this city and took up the trade of painter and paperhanger which he followed till his last illness came upon him. About ten years ago he became a member of the Christian church under the preaching of Elder Stark and has been a faithful and loyal member since. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias lodges. His illness came upon him several months ago and about eight weeks ago an operation was performed with the hope of effecting relief; but in vain. He continued to fail and death ended his sufferings Friday morning.
Mr. Mosley was of a very musical temperament and his skill on the violin was a delight to his friends. As one who loved music his soul was tenderly attuned in sensitive sympathy to the good and true things of life. He was a good man, strong as a king in his honesty and integrity and gentle and faithful as a woman in his friendships. His memory will long remain beloved in the hearts of his friends.
The funeral occurred from the Christian church Sunday at 2:30 o'clock, Judge C. J. Scofield officiating. Burial at Moss Ridge, conducted by the I. O. O. F. and K. P. lodges.
