Former Keokuk
man dies Tues.

Howard C. W. Mortimer of 329 Estell, Wichita, Kan. died at 8:15 p. m. Tuesday, November 23.

The son of Fuller H. and Ethel Logue Mortimer, he was born May 20, 1917 in Keokuk and was a resident until 1946 at which time he moved to Wichita.  He was Superintendent of Maintenance at the Shirkmere Hotel in Wichita.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 99 in Wichita, the Wichita Consistory, Median Shrine and the Army 6th Engineers Special Brigade Headquarters Company.

On April 12, 1939, he married Doris Kirwan who survives.  Also surviving are one son, Delbert, who is serving in the U. S. Army in Korea; one step-son, Don Kirwan of Columbia, Mo.; six grandchildren; his father, Fuller Mortimer of Alexandria; five brothers, Thomas of Kwaskia, Idaho, Percy of Pasco, Wash., Raymond, Murry and Wilbert, all of Keokuk and one sister, Mrs. Wayne Bryant of Keokuk.

He was preceded in death by his mother, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 this morning in Wichita.  Following the service the body will be returned to Keokuk, arriving Sunday morning.  Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the grave at the Buena Vista cemetery.
