Clara E. Morris, 93, a lifelong resident of Warsaw, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage.
She was born in Peoria on May 11, 1910, the daughter of James William and Della Curtis Stevens. She married William Parkin who died in 1949. She then married Wiley Morris in Kahoka, Mo., on April 14, 1938. He died in 1981.
She is survived by three children, Loretta (Marion) Sowers of Warsaw, Phyllis (Jerry) Kill of Poway, Calif., and Curtis (Kathleen) Parkin of Iowa; two granddaughters, Kristin (Brian) Dunne of San Diego, Calif. and Carrie Kill of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandsons, Mark (Becky) Sowers of Warsaw, David (Patty) Sowers of Riverton, Richard Sowers of Incline Village, Nev., Ora (Lena) Parkin of Warsaw, Karl Parkin of Iowa, Mike (Kelly) Parkin of Morrisonville, Steve Parkin of Des Moines; 15 great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Erma Stevens of Warsaw and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, Lloyd Parkin; one daughter-in-law, Pauline Parkin; one step-son, Rodney Niles; five sisters, Edna Beal, Elsie Bright, Rhoda Black, Verna Robinson, and Blanche Stevens; three brothers, Willard, Curtis, and Leslie Stevens.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Warsaw. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. She had served as a 4-H leader in Warsaw. She and her husband farmed in the Warsaw area for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Services were held Saturday, Sept. 6, at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Rev. Mark Horn officiated.
