Erma Ellen Mendenhall

Mrs. Erma Ellen Mendenhall, 82, of Bucklin, Mo., died Monday at 4:40 p.m. at the St. Francis Hospital in Marceline.

Erma was born July 25, 1902, in Macon County, northwest of Callao, the daughter of W. D. and Capitola Bell Stevens Cross.

On September 4, 1920 in Macon County, she married Jay B. Mendenhall who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter Mrs. Albert Wayne (Marcedia) Switzer of Bucklin, one sister Mrs. Gladys Rector of Bevier, four grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Bruce Wayne Switzer.

Erma lived northwest of Callao from her birth until 1920 when she moved to Bucklin.  She has been a Bucklin area resident for 64 years.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Louis V. Scudiero and Sons Funeral Home in Bucklin, Rev. Max Campbell officiating.  Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Bucklin.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday with the family receiving visitors from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Erma Mendenhall, Bucklin, Dies at 82

Erma Ellen Mendenhall, 82, Bucklin, died Monday night at St. Francis Hospital, Marceline.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at the Louis V. Scudiero and Sons Funeral Home, Bucklin, with Rev. Max Campbell officiating.  Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Bucklin.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Mendenhall was born in Macon County northwest of Callao on July 25, 1902.  She was the daughter of W. D. and Capitola Bell Stevens Cross who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded by a grandson, Bruce Wayne Switzer.

She married Jay B. Mendenhall Sept. 4, 1920 in Macon County.  He survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Marceda) Switzer, Bucklin; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Rector, Bevier; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild plus several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mendenhall lived in the Bucklin area 64 years and was a member of the Presbyterian Church northwest of Callao.
