Column 3Double Silver Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McVay celebrated their double silver wedding anniversary last Saturday evening at the latter's home southeast of Carthage by entertaining fifty of their relatives and friends.
The evening was very delightfully spent in a social way. The instrumental music, songs and recitations were especially enjoyed. Refreshments were served and all departed at a late hour leaving many valuable tokens of their esteem with best wishes for many more anniversaries.
The following families attended: P. W. Cutler, J. C. Cutler, N. B. Cutler, E. L. Yetter, C. W. Boston, Gay Boston, Doug Long and T. C. Lewis; also Arthur Wright and son Harry, Mrs. Mahala Austin, Leslie Kimmell and sister Eleanor, Mrs. F. G. Cutler and daughter Helen, Hazel Jenkins and Alex Langford, also Leonard Kelley and wife of Hamilton and Chester McVay and sister, Mrs. Jess Sherman, of Gregory, Mo.

Column 8SISTER DIES
Mrs. Ella McVay of southeast of Carthage has received word of the death of her sister, Mrs. Mary Melissa David, 87, of Selkirk, Kans., who passed away November 29. This leaves Mrs. McVay the last surviving member of the Boston family.

Laid To Rest
Here ThursdayFuneral services for Mrs. Ella McVay, who passed away at her home Tuesday, March 18, after a short illness, were held at the Fecht Funeral home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon with Rev. W. C. Burk and Rev. Morgan Webb officiating. Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Cutler, accompanied by Mrs. Ted Lane sang. The pallbearers were Olaf Dickinson, Gay Boston, Ernest Boston, Vernon Wright, Glen Dickinson and William Hayes. Interment was in Moss Ridge.
Peachy Ellen Boston, daughter of Reuben and Sarah Dale Boston was born at the family home five miles southeast of Carthage Aug. 27, 1865. Her parents were members of pioneer families of that locality who came from Woodford county, Ky. She attended East Union school where she later became the teacher. She always retained her interest in the school and in education in general.
She was united in marriage to William G. McVay on Sept 5, 1889 in a double ceremony when her sister, Amanda became the bride of Lee Wright. Mr. and Mrs. McVay were parents of three daughters, Mrs. Emma Sherman of Carthage, Mrs. Hazel Robertson of Chicago and Fanny at home and one son, Chester and one granddaughter, Bonnie Sherman of Carthage. Mr. McVay died July 4, 1937.
Mrs. McVay was a devoted member of the Carthage Baptist church, taking an active part in its various departments. In the community in which she spent her life she was interested in all undertakings for its improvement. She was a charter member of the East Union Parent-Teacher association and several years ago, in appreciation of her work in the association, she was presented with a life membership in the Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers. She was a member of the Friday Country club and of the W. C. T. U.
