Mildred R. McCracken, 92, of Hamilton, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2000, at Montebello Health Care Center in Hamilton. She was born on September 2, 1908, in Fountain Green, the daughter of Henry Clay and Bessie Link McGee. On January 28, 1935, she married J. J. (Jay) McCracken in Carthage. He died on September 27, 1988.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. James (Joanne K.) Kinkade of Deming, N.M.; one son, James J. (Donna) McCracken, Jr. of Lewisville, Tex., and Pass Christian, MS; six grandchildren, Jay McCracken of Lewisville, Michael McCracken and Thomas McCracken of Plano Tex., Edward James Kinkade of Keokuk, Kathy Jo Lenstron of Neb.; one nephew, Robert L Athey of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Chuck McGee; and two sisters, Grace McGee Wright and Merle McGee Gype.
She was a graduate of Warsaw High School. She was a member of the First Christian Churches in Hamilton and Quincy. She was a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Pocahontas Chapter, Hamilton. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Quincy Newcomers Club.
Services were held Wednesday, (today) at 11 a.m. at Lamport Funeral Home in Hamilton, with Reverend Jerald Bown officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Hamilton.
