Passing Maurice
McConnell Nov. 11
Near Fountain Green

Once again our community has been called upon to give up one of her loved and honored aged citizens, Maurice Crump McConnell, who after an illness of many months passed away at the late residence northwest of Fountain Green on the afternoon of November 11, 1936, aged 81 years, 6 months and 25 days.

He was the third son, (the first and second born dying in infancy), of Robert and Joanna Brewer McConnell, born April 16, 1855, at the homestead in the northern part of the township, his father later purchasing the present farm, and moving his family here, where Maurice with his younger brother, Walter and sister, Mary, enjoyed the advantages the district schools, and above all the splendid training by precept and example of these worthy pioneer parents.

Since the death of the mother in 1899, and of the father in 1904, Maurice with his brother, Walter successfully operated the farm, while their sister, Mary lovingly administered the affairs of the household.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Nov. 13, at 2 o'clock, at his late home, Rev. J. M. Thompson of Warsaw officiating.  A mixed quartette sang "Going Down the Valley", "Crossing the Bar," and "'Till We Meet Again."  The body was laid to rest in the McConnell cemetery.
