Funeral for Kenneth McConnell Held Monday Afternoon
Funeral services for Kenneth H. McConnell, 55, Fountain Green farmer, were held Monday afternoon in the Fountain Green Presbyterian church. Clergymen were William Demarest and Rev. E. L. Castrodale, and burial was in LaHarpe cemetery.
Mrs. Edith Claycomb, accompanied by Mrs. Phyllis Bell, sang "Near to the Heart of God" and "The Lord's Payer."
Pallbearers were Brice and Clifford Latherow, John Miller, J. Mac Hobart, Charles Brant and Monte Geddes.
McConnell died suddenly Thursday morning, Sept. 2, in Graham hospital, Canton. He had recently undergone surgery and was expected to be dismissed from the hospital soon. Kenneth Huston McConnell, son of Charles A. and Frances Brant McConnell, was born at the family home west of Fountain Green on Aug. 1, 1899. He spent his entire life in the Fountain Green community.
On Aug. 18, 1927, he married Miss Gladys White of the same community. They were the parents of two sons, Kenneth White McConnell, at home and Sgt. Lawrence Walker McConnell, who is serving with the armed forces in Germany.
He was a life-long member of the Fountain Green Presbyterian church, being an elder at the time of his death. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
Surviving with his widow and sons are a daughter-in-law, Erma Peck McConnell; a brother, A. W. McConnell; a sister, Mrs. Russell Knoedler of Clovis, N. M., nieces and nephews.
