Funeral services for James E. McConnell, 64, rural Burnside, were held at 1 p.m. Friday in Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with the Rev. Leslie Stewart officiating. Burial was in McConnell Cemetery near Fountain Green.
Mr. McConnell died Tuesday morning, March 23, 1976, in McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
He was born May 19, 1911, in Fountain Green, a son of James Ralph and Anna Anderson McConnell. He married Bessie DeHaven Oct. 2, 1953, in the Old Bedford Church near Blandinsville. He was a farmer. He was employed in construction several years ago and worked on the Alcan highway for 12 years.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Ella Christine at home; two foster sons, Doyle Dietsch of Colchester and Dennis Dietsch at home; two sisters, Jessie Hasten of Carthage and Mrs. New (Nelen) York of Galesburg; four brothers, Milton McConnell of St. Charles, Ia., Wesley McConnell of Carthage, Fay McConnell of Prole, Ia., and Wayne McConnell of LaHarpe; and two foster grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Gay.
