Column 1DIED -- At her home a short distance south-east of this city, of typhoid pneumonia, Friday evening, 10 o'clock, May 12th, 1882, MRS. LAURA A., wife of Pliny Maynard and only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Comstock, aged 28 years, 7 months and 25 years.
The sad termination of her sickness was a shock to our people. Although the attending physician could give no hope, all thought she must recover, but Death had claimed her. All that loving friends could do, was done; her every wish was anticipated, but the fatal disease gradually wasted the form and blasted all hope. She fully realized her condition and gave to the friends assurances that it was well with her. She said that her only regret was in leaving her darling children, husband and friends. Her five months old babe was consigned to the loving care of her mother, who will guard it with the same solicitude and watchfulness bestowed upon the mother in her infancy. A little boy 4 years old is left to the father's care. Poor little ones, so early deprived of a loving and faithful mother, who can describe their loss. Mr. and Mrs. Maynard were married Dec. 20th, 1876. She connected herself with the Congregational society May 9th, 1880, has been a faithful teacher in the Sunday School and a consistent member of the church. Her loss will be greatly felt in the family circle, in the church and by her wide acquaintance of sincere friends. The funeral services were conducted from the Congregational church, Saturday, 4 o'clock p. m. A large concourse of sympathizing friends followed the remains to their last resting place, mingling their tears with the sorrowing friends.
