Column 9R. A. Mason, 89, dies Sunday, funeral Wed.
Robert A. Mason, 89, a resident of Keokuk for 44 years, died at 3:50 Sunday afternoon at the Metz Nursing Home in Donnellson. He had been in failing health for several years and had been at the Metz Nursing Home for the past three years.
The son of the late Thomas and Nora Mason, he was born July 3, 1875 at Lincoln, Nebraska where he spent his childhood. Previous to moving to Keokuk, he had lived in Illinois and Ft. Madison.
On September 23, 1904 he married Anna Lobb at Warsaw, Ill., who preceded him in death on May 28, 1957.
Surviving are six sons, Robert W., Harry L., Earl N., Herman L., of Keokuk; Ralph and Charles Ervin Mason of Warsaw; four daughters, Mrs. George (Edna) Peterman of Ottumwa, Mrs. Herman (Ruth) Renner of Alexandria, Mrs. Richard (Hazel) Skow of Argyle and Mrs. Frank (Clara) Sears of Kahoka, a brother, Albert Mason of Warsaw; 44 grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death besides his wife by four sons, Milton, Walter, Russell and Carl Mason; two brothers, a sister and a great grandchild.
Funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon at the Schmidt Memorial Home with Rev. Carl A. Amos of Montrose officiating.
Interment will be in the Oakland cemetery.
