RALPH R. MASON

Feb. 21, 1947 -- May 29, 2005

Ralph R. Mason, 58, of Warsaw, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, in his home in Warsaw.

He was born Feb. 21, 1947, in Keokuk, Iowa, a son of Ralph V. and Josephine Stepp Mason.  He married Teresa Thurman on Feb. 5, 1975, in Warsaw.

He is survived by his mother, Josephine Mason of Warsaw; two sisters, Jane (Dale) Tripp of Warsaw and their children, Randy, Christopher, Jacob and Bill Tripp, and Robin (Rod Egley) Woods of Warsaw and their children, Jerry, Mason, Nathan, Evan and Jazmin Woods; one brother, Joseph (Amanda) Mason of Hamilton and their children, Philip and Ashley Mason; ex-wife, Teresa Mason of Warsaw; one daughter, Teresa Len Mason (fianc/, Jeff Aten) of Marengo, Iowa; three sons, Ralph B. (Heather) Mason of Hamilton, John E. Mason, and Samuel W. Mason of Warsaw; two grandsons, Bryan and Ralph Anthony Mason; a very special step-nieces, Brittany Ann Vickers.  He was also close with Esther's children, Jessica, Greg, and Amy (fianc/, Jeremy Billings) and their children, Alexis and Chantel; one aunt, Hazel Skow of New Boston, Iowa; and three uncles, LeRoy (Mary Jane) Stepp of Keokuk, Frederick "Fritz" (Alice) Stepp of Milwaukee, Wis., and Charles Mason of Dallas City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Mason; one sister, Esther Mason; his favorite aunt, Kate; and one brother-in-law, Bill Woods.

He worked at the Hancock County Mental Health Center in Carthage for over 25 years, where he was the supervisor of the mowing crew.  He was very fond of the clients and staff at the center, especially those that he supervised.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed going to the boat harbor and watching the eagles and pelicans.

Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, with family meeting friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lamporte Funeral Home of Warsaw.  Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at Warsaw Assembly of God Church with Rev. Charles Hadsall officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw.

Memorials in memory of Ralph R. Mason may be made to Hancock County Cancer Society.
