Mint Martens, a well known farmer living three miles south of this city, died Saturday at his home after an illness of a few hours of heart trouble, aged 72 years, 11 months and 8 days. The funeral was held today. There was a short service at the house at 1:00 o'clock and the body was taken to the German Evangelical Lutheran church where other services were held. Mr. Martens was born in Germany but has lived many years in this country, a good part of his life having been spent in the vicinity of Basco. He was a hard working man and after starting in life as a farm hand became a large property owner, having amassed about 800 acres of land. He leaves a widow and six children, four sons and two daughters.
