Robert F. Markey, 79, of Carthage, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2002, in the LaHarpe - Davier Health Care Center in LaHarpe.
He was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Burnside, a son of Keith F. and Alma Furrow Markey. On Nov. 7, 1948, he married Dorothy Bloyd in Carthage. She died Sept. 14, 1994.
He is survived by three daughters, Cathy (Rick) Johnson of LaHarpe, Patty Finch of LaHarpe, and Brenda (Robin) Kern of Mt. Airy, N.C.; five sons, William D. Clark of Carthage, LeRoy (Barbara) Clark of Blandinsville, Rick (Bev) Markey of Carthage, Robert Markey Jr. of LaHarpe, Richard Markey and his companion Judy of Burnside; two sisters, Rose Mary (Richard) Roberts of LaHarpe, and Mary Ann (Earl) Swain of LaHarpe; 27 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one son, Daniel R. Markey.
He was a member of the Carthage Eagles Club, and a social member of the Carthage V.F.W. Post 5117. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Before retiring he lived and farmed in the Burnside area his entire life.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 5, in the Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage with Father J. M. Small officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Carthage.
Memorials have been established for the Southeast Renal Dialysis or the LaHarpe - Davier Health Care Center.
