Russell C. Malloy
Russell C. Malloy, 74, Richmond, died Thursday at Ray County Hospital, Richmond.
He was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Bucklin, son of Henry L. and Mary (Whisenand) Malloy. He and Georgia Sappington, of New Boston, were married in 1933. She died in 1970. He married Nora Norris Cain, of Richmond, July 10, 1971.
She survives, of the home, as do two sons, Jimmy Malloy, Richmond, and Jerry Malloy, Henrietta; a step son, Leroy Cain, Richmond; a daughter, Mary Carothers, Clarence; a step daughter, Leva Penny, Richmond; four sisters, Evea Fields, Brookfield; Lola Rogness, Long Beach, Calif., Shirley Cathey, Bucklin, and Sharlote Phillips, Gladstone; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A son, two daughters, five brothers and four sisters also preceded him in death.
A Burlington Northern section foreman, he worked for the railroad for 31 years, before retiring in 1975. He had worked as a coal miner, as well. He was a member of Rock Falls Baptist Church, in rural Elkhorn, and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of the Way, AFL-CIO. He had lived in Richmond for 29 years; he was a former resident of Bucklin, Cameron and Lathrop.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Sunday, at the church, with the Rev. Robert Horton officiating. Burial will be in Cash Cemetery, northwest of New Cambria. Visitation is 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Memorials may be made to the church, or the American Heart Association.
