MONTROSE -- Elmer Howard Malloy Sr., 75, Montrose, died at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, in Keokuk Area Hospital.
He was born June 5, 1920, in Charleston, to Everett H. and Bessie Daines Malloy. He married Helen Louise Lehr Elder on Aug. 8, 1952, in Queen City, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include: four children, Mrs. Lynn (Rose) Brehn of Charlotte, Mich., Mrs. William (Jeanne) Thomas of Woodland Park, Colo., Elmer Howard Malloy Jr., of Marengo, Iowa, and Richard Malloy of Summitville, Iowa; three sisters, Dolores Speake of Montrose, Dorothy Trone of Warsaw, and Norma Cattich of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; a brother, Thomas Malloy of Payson, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a son, a stepson, three sisters and two brothers.
He worked for Penford Company in Cedar Rapids for 20 years, retiring in 1972. He worked for the Keokuk Community School District from 1977-1979, and for the Lewis County School District from 1980 to 1982. He was a member of the American Legion in Keokuk and the V.F.W. in Fort Madison. He was a charter member of Rimrock Saddle Club of Ely, Iowa.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Keokuk National Cemetery, with the Rev. Jeffrey Kelley officiating.
Inurnment, with full military rites, will follow the services.
Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk.
DeJong's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
