William Michael "Mike" Lovell, 51, of Bowen, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, in Christ Hospital in Oaklawn, Ill.
He was born Feb. 26, 1950, in Keokuk, Iowa, a son of William and Evelyn Franks Lovell. On April 18, 1992, in Norfolk, Va., he married Betty Thompson. She survives in Bowen.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Bowen; three daughters, Melanie (Donnie) Campbell of Bowen, Danyl (Shane) Miller of Rapidan, Va., Sarah Lovell of Culpeper, Va.; one son, Charles "Chuck" Lovell of Culpeper, Va.; four grandchildren, Bradley Michael Allen, Tyler Miller, Nicole Campbell and Brandy Lovell; one sister, Sidney Lovell of Augusta; two brothers, Larry (Paulette) of Peoria, and Jack Eugene (Rhonda) of Augusta; one nephew, Lewis Mitchum of Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a truck driver for Brian Gaines Trucking in Bowen, and worked part time for Curtis Aviation in Quincy. He was a member of the American Trucking Association, and the Bowen American Legion. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage, with Pastor Tom Mehaffy officiating. Burial was in McKay Cemetery near Burnside.
