Irma "Maxine" Long, 84, of Blandinsville, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at Wesley Village in Macomb.
She was born April 16, 1921, in Memphis, Mo., a daughter of Alpha "Pop" and Clara Lou Krieg Bice. On Sept. 8, 1940, she married Charles Ferguson in Burlington, Iowa. She later married Lawrence C. "Sock" Long on April 29, 1948, in LaHarpe. He died Feb. 1, 1998.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy Oliver, Janet (Larry) Johnson and Jean (Terry) Mershon, all of LaHarpe; one son, Larry Long of Blandinsville; one daughter-in-law, Karen Ferguson of Roseville; two sisters, Eileen Purdy and Eleanor (Clinton) Sears, both of LaHarpe; one brother, Marion (Rella) Bice; one sister-in-law, Aleene Roberts of Chico, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jerilyn in infancy; one son, Jim Ferguson; two sisters, Mildred Sticklan and Lucille Rodeffer; and two brothers, Ben Bice and Bob Bice.
She lived her entire life in the LaHarpe and Blandinsville area spending most of her time as a busy homemaker with her six children and grandchildren. She also worked for the Quill office in LaHarpe and the canning factory in Lomax.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. Burial followed in the LaHarpe Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Blandinsville Rescue Squad.
