CORA ELLEN LONG

Cora Ellen Doolittle Long passed away Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Olive Swift at Washington, Iowa.  She was born at Niota, Ill., Nov. 30, 1868.  Her husband, William Long preceded her in death in 1922.

The remains of a former, well-known resident of Fountain Green and LaHarpe, Mrs. Cora Ellen Long, were brought back to Hancock county last Friday to lie at eternal peace near her girlhood surroundings.  Mrs. Long, who died at the age of 80 on Wednesday, March 28, 1949, in Washington, Iowa, was buried in Majorville cemetery after funeral services at The Elms in Carthage on Friday.

Mrs. Long's death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Olive Swift at Washington.  A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amzi Doolittle of Niota, she was married to William Long, who passed away in 1922.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Swift, and a brother, Harry Doolittle, of Niota. --- LaHarpe Quill.

Notes:

Exact death date is unknown because March 28, 1949 does not fall on a Wednesday as the obit states.  So, did she die on Monday, March 28, or did she die on Wednesday, March 30?

Cora is not the daughter of Amzi Doolittle -- she is the granddaughter of Amzi Doolittle.
