Helen Lydia Londrie, 87, of Carthage, died at the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage on Tuesday, April 22, 2003, of natural causes.
She was born Oct. 27, 1915, the daughter of Chester D. and Ida Claire Blan Jones at their home in Clayton. She married Kenneth Max Londrie in Carthage on Aug. 26, 1933. He died Sept. 12, 1978.
She is survived by 11 children, June (Harry) Propst of Creston, Iowa, Lois Bloyd of Carthage, Max (Ann) Londrie of Washington, Ill., Harry (Carol) Londrie of Hamilton, Wayne (Joyce) Londrie of Elvaston, Marcia Londrie of Ft. Madison, Margie Russell of Alexandria, Mo., Michael (Sharon) Londrie of Carthage, Randy Londrie of St. Louis, Mo., Mitzie Wachtendorf of Carthage, and Gary (Marie) Londrie of Queen Creek, Ariz.; 35 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry Jones of Keokuk; and one sister-in-law, Ardith Jones of Keokuk.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; two daughters, Claire Maxine Londrie and La-Vonnie Sue "Bonnie" Cosgrove; one son, Joe Londrie; two sisters, Marguerite Yuskis and Nellie Francis Jones in infancy; one brother, Carl Jones; and two great-grandchildren.
She attended 11 years of school in Hamilton and received her G.E.D. at Carthage in 1971. She had worked at the Carthage Senior Center for seven years as custodian and mealsite assistant. She was also a faithful member of the Carthage TOPS Club IL 1654.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Neiser-Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, at Neiser-Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
A memorial fund has been established.
