ERCELL LONDRIE

Oct. 31, 1912 -- Feb. 28, 2000

Ercell Londrie, 87, of Hamilton, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa.  He was born Oct. 31, 1912, in Webster, the son of Alfred L. and Alice Pearl Ewing Londrie.  On June 19, 1951, in Burlington, Iowa, he married Dorothy Evans.  She survives.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Rick (Chris) Bidne of Denton, Texas, and Mrs. Jeff (Patty) Taylor of Farmington, N.M.; one son, Larry Londrie of Hamilton; one brother, Ward Londrie of Quincy; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, two in infancy.

He was a graduate of Hamilton High School in Hamilton.  He had been employed as a grocery clerk by the Hamilton Super Value in Hamilton for many years.  He was a member of the Hamilton V.F.W. Post 5256.  He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Bears.  He was a veteran of World War II, where he was a staff sergeant and a tail gunner.  He received the Distinguished Flying Cross air medal and the Good Conduct medal.  He was of the Christian faith.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, at the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton with Rev. Jerald Bown officiating.  A flag presentation will be held by the Hamilton V.F.W. Post 5256.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Lamporte Funeral Home of Hamilton.

A memorial has been established in his memory to the Hamilton Ambulance Fund.
