Madge Alma Lenix, 98, of Rock Island, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or PEO Sisterhood Chapter BK.

Madge was born on Aug. 14, 1910, in Hancock County, Ill., the daughter of Harley and Ellen Tippett Parker.  She married Harlan Vere Lenix on Dec. 21, 1929, in Macomb, Ill.  He preceded her in death on June 28, 1988.

She was employed at J. S. Schramm Company, Burlington, Iowa, as a seamstress, retiring in 1990.

She was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, King's Daughters Florence Nightingale Circle and PEO Sisterhood Chapter BK.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed baking and needlework.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and David Parker, Rock Island; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Lenix Hays; grandchildren and spouses, Mary Antoinette Lenix and Kurt Turner, Elizabeth Lynne Parker and John Charles Ducey, David Coats Parker Jr. and Vickie Marie; great-grandchildren, Emily Suzanne Ducey, Andrew Paul Maxim Parker and Robert Charles Ducey.  She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Robert Parker Lenix; and grandson, David Howell Lenix.
