Mrs. Minnie Larson

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Leona Larson of Carthage were held Sunday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. in the Colchester Christian church, the Rev. Ernest Louderman officiating.  Brian Shelor was the organist, and accompanied Mrs. Verne Larson who sang "Face to Face" and "Under His Wing."  The pallbearers were Wayne Miller, Scott Miller, Donald Larson, Carl Larson, LeRoy Larson, and Loren Larson.  Interment was in Mount Auburn cemetery in Colchester.

Mrs. Larson died Friday, Dec. 3, in Memorial hospital in Carthage.  She was 84 years old, and had spent her entire life in Hancock county.

Born Sept. 8, 1881 in Carthage, she was the daughter and only child of John T. and Eliza Savage Fletcher.

At an early age she was baptized by the Rev. F. M. Branic and became a member of the Oak Grove Christian church.

On Dec. 11, 1902 she was married to Godfrey Carl Larson.  He died April 20, 1929.

Since his death she has remained at the farm home eight miles east of Carthage.  Her son, Orville Larson, and his family cared for her in her declining years, making it possible for her to remain in her home.

She was a member of the Lamoine Homemakers Extension unit and was a charter member of the Liberty club.

Surviving with the son, who shared her home, are two other sons, John of Carthage and Minor of Camden; a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Lenora) Snyder of Macomb; 16 grandchildren, Wayne, Scott and Paul Miller, Mrs. Lloyd (Martina) Thorman, Leroy, Loren, Gene, Calvin, and Sharon Larson, Mrs. David (Marilyn) Nelson, Mrs. Merrill (Lynn) Pollock, and Donald, Carl, David, and Janet Larson; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Fred Ivan, who died in infancy on April 2, 1909.
