Funeral services for John W. Larson, 70, Burnside, were held Tuesday afternoon in the Burnside Christian Church with the Rev. Charles Furgeson officiating. Burial was in the McKay Cemetery. Visitation was in the Neiser Funeral Home in Carthage. A memorial has been established in his name for the Mental Health Association.
Mr. Larson died Saturday morning, Dec. 5, 1976, in University Hospital in Iowa City.
He was born Feb. 3, 1906 at Tennessee, a son of Godfrey C. and Minnie Fletcher Larson. He married Mildred Salisbury May 9, 1931, in Nauvoo. He was a member of the Burnside Christian Church, the Mental Health Association and FOE 3515 of Carthage.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Donald of Dallas City, Carl William of Quincy and David R. of Stronghurst; one daughter, Mrs. Merrill (Lynn) Pollick of Prophetstown; six grandsons; a sister, Mrs. Lenora Snyder of Macomb; and a brother, Orville Larson of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan and Minor.
