Gene "Hawk" Larson, 64, of Silvis, died Dec. 15, 2001, at home.
He was born Nov. 9, 1937, in Carthage, the son of Minor and Leota Mosley Larson. He married Sandra Wayland on Sept. 1, 1957, in McDonough County. He later married Shirley Dirck, on March 7, 1986, in Roseville.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; one daughter, Gina (Patrick) St. John, Colchester; two sons, Hank (Susan) Larson, and Melvin (Chris) Larson, both of Tennessee; his mother, Leota Cludary, Carthage; five grandchildren, Amy, Angel, Shelly, Casey, and Joshua; one great grandson, Austin; one brother, Leroy Larson of LeClaire, Iowa; one half sister, Sharon Apland of Bardoph; one half brother, Calvin Larson of Beardstown.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Loren.
He retired as a precision grinder from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, in 1933 after 30 years. He enjoyed working on old cars, hunting, fishing, playing cards and being with family and friends. In earlier years, he had farmed with his father.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial was in the Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
