Column 6JOHN HENRY LANGFORD
The death of John Henry Langford of Harmony township, near Bentley, occurred Friday in his home, at the age of 77 years. Mr. Langford had been a resident of that vicinity for more than nineteen years, living upon the same farm during this time.
He was one of the oldest and most respected citizens of his county.
The late Mr. Langford had an interesting history. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Langford, both parents being born in Ireland and coming to this country at an early date. Mr. Langford got his start in life from the gold fields of California, while he was very young.
In 1855 he was married to Miss Mazett Cox and to them were born three daughters and one son, who survive their father. They are Mrs. Adelia Weir of near St. Marys, Miss Amanda Langford, Mrs. Ruth Mathias of Mount Pleasant and Orville Langford. He is also survived by two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one brother, George L. Langford of Bentley and six sisters.
The deceased was one of the most prominent and well thought of men in his community, taking an active part in the social life.
The funeral was held at the Baptist church west of his home on Monday. The services were conducted by Rev. L. E. Frazee. Burial in Holland cemetery.
