MONTROSE -- Thomas Glenn Knobbs Jr., 81, Montrose, died Saturday, Feb. 27, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
He was born April 23, 1911, in Montrose to Thomas Philip and Ruth E. Barnes Knobbs.
He was married Aug. 23, 1934, in Carthage, Ill., to Bessie Bee Berstler. She survives.
Survivors also include: one daughter, Sheryl Woolford of Australia; two sisters, Margaret Price of Humboldt, Iowa, and Mrs. David (Patricia) Barnes of Plainview, Minn.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces.
Mr. Knobbs was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters and one brother.
He was a lifetime resident of Montrose, where he was owner and operator of Knobbs Mobil Service Station for 40 years.
Mr. Knobbs was of the Protestant Faith. He was a 1930 graduate of the former Montrose High School. He was an avid boater.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barr Memorial Chapel in Ft. Madison with the Rev. Donald Hensen officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A memorial is established with the Montrose Library.
