Zola Madge Whitaker

Funeral services were held Friday for Zola Madge Whitaker at the Kilgore Memorial Home in Carthage.  The Rev. James A. Fox officiated and Mrs. Kenneth Sallee was the vocalist.  Mrs. Kenneth Cutler was organist.  Burial was in the Holland cemetery near Carthage.  Pallbearers were: Wendell Walker, Alvin Thorp, Ora Holmes and Walter Hardy.

Mrs. Zola Madge Phillips Whitaker, daughter of Webster and Susan Cox Phillips, was born in Carthage, on Aug. 24, 1893.  She died in Memorial Hospital on Sept. 27, at the age of 73.

A lifetime resident of Hancock County, she attended Hickory Flat and Independence schools.

She was united in marriage to Dennis Kimbrough Dec. 29, 1917.  He preceded her in death.  In 1951, she was married to Alvin Whitaker in Macomb.  He also preceded her in death.

She attended the Primitive Baptist Church, at Middle Creek.  Her special interest was her home and garden and she spent several years helping other people in their home.  She held a special love for children.

Surviving is a brother, Waldo Phillips of Carthage and a sister, Mrs. Ora Okle Moore of Carthage.  She was preceded in death by both husbands and by her parents.
