HAMILTON, Ill. -- Velva M. McKay, 90, of Hamilton, died at 9:12 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 7, 1989) in the Montebello Manor Nursing Care Center where she had lived for the past six years.
Mrs. McKay was born Oct. 29, 1899, in Hancock County, a daughter of Elmon Floyd and Euna A. Mabry Starr. She married Clone Kimbrough June 6, 1919, in Quincy. He died Dec. 17, 1943. She married Ferman McKay in 1955 in Carthage. He died in 1986. Mrs. McKay was a member of the Mount Pleasant Christian Church near Bentley.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Betty) Vincent of Fort Madison, Iowa; a son, Leo E. Kimbrough of Warsaw; a sister, Yvonne Nelson of Grass Valley, Calif.; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McKay was preceded in death by a son, a daughter and a half brother.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lamporte Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles E. Harris. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton from 6 to 8 tonight.
A memorial fund has been established.
