BURNSIDE

Died at his home, near Burnside, of typhoid fever, Thomas J. Kimbrough March 9, 1904, aged 32 years, 1 month, after an illness of 3 weeks.  He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Kimbrough, of East Carthage.  Was married to Miss Birdie Pennock, July 4, 1896, to this union were born two children, the oldest a girl of less than 4 and the youngest a boy of about 1 year.  Tom Kimbrough as he was familiarly called, was one that had no enemies but many friends, being of a cheerful disposition and industrious and ready to help his neighbors in exchanging work, his help was sought after and by so doing he could get help when needed.  He leaves his little family in fairly good circumstances.  Funeral at the Christian church in Burnside Friday the 11th to a crowded house consisting of his neighbors and acquaintances, many of them living several miles distant, where a fitting tribute was paid to the deceased by Rev. Shiplet, pastor of the Christian church, assisted by Rev. Porter, pastor of the M. E. church, after which the remains of a good man were conveyed to McKay cemetery, followed by many sorrowing friends.  To see the aged parents, the wife and other relatives as they stood by the coffin and viewed the remains of a loved one for the last time, clothed in death's garments, the scene is awful to contemplate, so we drop the vail and remove from our sight what memory fails to obliterate.
