Mrs. John D. Kigar, for many years a resident of Scotland County died about 11 o'clock Saturday night at her home two miles northwest of Greensburg at the age of 71 years 9 months and 25 days. Mrs. Kigar been in failing health for years but was taken ill suddenly Saturday night and passed away in a short time.
Minnie Frances Bryant was born at Carthage, Il., Jan. 1, 1864. At the age of 18 years she united with the Christian church at Carthage. On Dec. 14, 1881, she was married to John D. Kigar. To them were born ten children, eight sons and two daughters. Seven sons and two daughters survive her in death namely Mrs. Joe Burrus of Baring, Oscar Kigar of Auburn, Mich., Mrs. Burl Saulsberry of Knox City, Earl, Otto and Von Kigar of Greensburg, Lewis Kigar of Baring, Joe and Raymond Kigar of Hurdland. Besides these children she leaves 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her departure. Preceding her in death are her husband, John D. Kigar, and two sons Fred and John.
Funeral services at 2 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. C. K. Green of Memphis, at the Greensburg Christian church. Burial was in the Christian cemetery.
Body bearers were Ray Harbur, Paul Harbur, Don Burrus, Zack Burrus and Cordie Kigar.
The singers were Mrs. Lester Kaser, Mrs. Edgar Fetters, Mrs. Claudie Coy, Mrs. Alice Kennison and Mrs. Harry Robeson. Mrs. Hazel Mayfield presided at the piano.
