Three Baring People Are
Injured Labor Day In
Collision Near Bible Grove

The Labor Day week-end and holiday were relatively quiet in Knox County, where no accidents were reported.  However, there was one accident involving Knox County residents, but not in the county, in which three Baring people were injured.

They are: Jackie Lee Kigar, 19 years old, minor abrasions to the forehead and a cut right leg; his brother, Richard Kigar, 21, lacerations on the nose, and Richard's wife, Norma Faye, 18, serious lacerations on the face and right eye.  All were taken to a hospital in Kirksville.

The accident happened about 7:45 o'clock Monday evening a mile southeast of Bible Grove in Scotland County on a gravel road, when a 1949 Ford being driven north by Jackie Lee Kigar collided with a 1952 Chevrolet driven south by Raye Greenslate of Baring.  Both cars were extensively damaged.

The accident was checked by the State Highway Patrol, which said it was one of only three in the Kirksville zone of Troop "B" over the three-day Labor Day week-end, in which 443 persons lost their lives in traffic accidents over the nation.
