Lester Silas Jump, 72, died Saturday, March 16 in Keokuk Area Hospital after a six-month illness.
He was born April 14, 1912 at Keokuk, the son of Harry and Rhilda Arnold Jump. He married Mary Myrtle Bryant on June 19, 1930 in Kahoka, Mo.
He had been employed by the Keokuk Electro-Metals Co. before his retirement in 1974. He was a member of Union of Engineers Light and Power and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons Lester, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga. and Ronald V. of Keokuk; half-brothers Donald and Lawrence; half-sister Ruth Ann; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Harry and Willard Dee.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the DeJong Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Sutter officiating.
Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is after 2 p.m. Monday at the DeJong Funeral Home and the family will meet with friends 7-9 p.m.
