Doris Elaine Jones, 87, of Carthage, died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 10, 1916, the daughter of Claude E. and Winnie Bandle Webb in Macomb. On Sept. 5, 1937, she married Lawrence Ray Jones in Bentley.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Gerald (Pat) of Carthage; her mother, Winnie; three grandchildren, Douglas (Tina) Jones, Deborah (Paul) Tanksley, and Darrin Jones; six great grandchildren, Cassie, Brittany, and Leanne Jones, Kalean, Issac, and Caleb Tanksley; one sister, Louise Ikerd; and two brothers, Raymond and George Webb.
She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters, Evelyn Ganion and Ruth Briggs.
She had worked as a cook at Hardees for 13 years and was the head cook at Union-Douglas School for 20 years until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the Providence Primitive Baptist Church, Happy Homemaker's Club, Cheerful Helpers, Home Extension and Home Bureau.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 10, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Pastor Randy Webb officated. Burial followed at Harmony Township Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.
