LaHarpe Historical & Genealogical Society Pearl Johnson
Pearl R. Johnson, 78, LaHarpe, died at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, at Jefferson Barracks hospital, St. Louis, Mo., where he had been a patient for several weeks.
Funeral services were last Saturday at the Banks & Beals funeral home with Rev. Fred Reiner officiating. Burial was in the La Harpe cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was born December 26, 1893, in Jersey County, Ill., the son of Albert W. and Rachael Corzine Johnson. He married Glenna Patterson May 24, 1917. She died April 23, 1922. He married Mable Quivey November 14, 1946; she died May 15, 1964.
He was a retired painter, a veteran of World War I, a member of the La Harpe American Legion Post 301 and the brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.
Surviving are two sons, Verrill, El Paso, Ill., and Lawrence, Rome, New York; one step-son, John Quivey, La Harpe, Ill., one sister, Mrs. Stella Miller, Wrights, Ill.; two brothers, Virgil and Avon, both of Pekin, Ill.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
