DEATH OF MELISSA JOHNSON

Melissa Johnson, daughter of Reuben and Melissa (Marlow) Dill, was born August 24, 1846, near Fairfield, Ia.  At the age of sixteen, she came to Illinois with her parents and took up her residence on the farm where her burial took place.

She was married about the year 1866 to Michael Malone of Quincy, Ill., who died in 1874.  She later married Harmon Branes, who died about 1895.  About a year later she married George W. Johnson, who survives her with the following children: Thomas and John Malone and Mrs. Annie Barnes Printy, also the following grandchildren: Eva M. Malone, Charles D. Malone and Roy, Wilbur, Clarice and Madge Printy.

She joined the Oak Grove Christian church soon after her marriage to her surviving husband and was an active and faithful member continuing this relationship up to the time of her death which occurred at the home of her son, John, of Elvaston, Sunday morning, January 11, at 9:30 o'clock.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Oak Grove Christian church, Rev. J. W. Porter conducting the services.  Burial in Oak Grove cemetery.
