Column 7WASH JOHNSON
George Washington Johnson, son of Warren and Caroline Whittaker Johnson, was born August 24, 1847 at Quebec, Canada and passed away May 31, 1934 at Bartonville, Ill., being at the time of his death 86 years, 9 months and 7 days old.
At the age of one year he with his parents came to Illinois where he has spent the remainder of his life. He was married May 11, 1868 to Miss Harriett Harter. To this union eight children were born, Curtis and Henry, of Plymouth; Ralph and Raymond of Carthage; and Mrs. Ethel Babcock, of Dallas City. He is also survived by a brother, Silas Johnson of Tulsa, Okla. His wife, three children, four brothers, a sister, father and mother have preceded him in death. Being a pioneer and having operated a mill he was well known and will be sadly missed by the community.

Column 1Friends and relatives were saddened by the death Thursday of Mr. G. W Johnson. The funeral was held at The Elms in Carthage, Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Interment was made at the Pickens cemetery near Oak Grove.
