Another LaHarpe home was saddened by death the first of the week. Mrs. Pearl R. Johnson passed away at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Patterson at 12:30 a. m., Sunday, April 23, 1922, aged 24 years, 4 months and 16 days. She had not been in robust health for several years and a siege with influenza in November so weakened her that she was unable to resist an acute attack of pneumonia of more recent date.
Blenna Forest Patterson was born in Ipava, Fulton county, Illinois, December 7, 1897 and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Patterson to LaHarpe about nine years ago which has been the family home ever since.
On May 24, 1917 she was married to Pearl R. Johnson and the young couple made their home in Peoria for several months before the husband was called into the service of his country in the world war. Mrs. Johnson then came to LaHarpe and after her husband's return from France they changed their permanent residence to this city. Two bright little boys, Verril P., aged 3 years, and Lawrence Milan, 1 year old, are left with the husband and parents to mourn her death. The only other child in her father's family was a baby boy who died three months after birth.
Mrs. Johnson was a young woman of amiable disposition and attractive personality. Home life made the strongest appeal to her and she was never so happy as when surrounded by her loved ones. She was a patient sufferer throughout her long illness. Her untimely death has caused great sorrow in the home and among the many friends of the family. The husband and parents have the consolation of knowing that they did all in their power to alleviate her sufferings and her babies are left in the most pleasant surroundings and will receive the tenderest care.
Funeral services were held at the Patterson home at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Elder Paul Ewing officiating. Burial in LaHarpe cemetery.
