Mrs. Mabel Clair Huston, 91, of LaHarpe, died Nov. 13, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born Oct. 15, 1902, near Fountain Green, the daughter of Maurice and Estella Hobart Yetter. She married Alfred E. Huston on March 3, 1926, in Carthage. He died on June 25, 1940.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Naomi) Spiekerman of Rochester, Minn.; one son, Alfred Huston of LaHarpe; two sisters, Mrs. Naomi Lewis and Mrs. Elgin Hardisty both of LaHarpe; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, Lewis, Ross, Fay, Harry and Jennings; and one sister, Mrs. Alma Rich.
She was raised and educated in the Fountain Green community. She had lived in LaHarpe since 1945 and had worked at the hospital and in retail business. She was an avid quilter and seamstress. She was a member of the LaHarpe Union Church and maintained an active interest in the Fountain Green Presbyterian Church.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating. Burial was held at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester.
A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Union Church and the Fountain Green United Presbyterian Church.
