Maggie Mabel Hurt, 93, of Basco, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
She was born Feb. 6, 1911, in Rockport, the daughter of Charles and Jennie Lue Cox. On Nov. 5, 1930, she married John Hurt in Macomb. He died in 1984.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary (Richard) Pollock of McKinney, Texas; one son, James C. Hurt of Quincy; one daughter-in-law, Clarine Hurt of Basco; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Donald and John Jr., and 10 brothers and sisters.
She worked as a cook at Carthage College for 17 years, retiring in 1967. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Carthage. She was the youngest of 11 children.
Funeral services were held this morning at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Pastor Gary Russell officiated.
