Jennie Ellen Hurt, 91, of the Carthage and Basco area, died July 24, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
She was born Jan. 25, 1906, in Floyd County, Virginia, the daughter of Loudy and Mary Cooper. She married Henry Hurt in Carthage. He died Jan. 27, 1975. She had lived in the Carthage area for 58 years. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm.
She is survived by one daughter, Swanee Franks of Carthage; two granddaughters, Sharon Smith of Carthage and Barbara Batley of Hamilton; one grandson, Gary Mosley of Carthage; one sister, Hattie Thompson of Gladbrook, Iowa; ten great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and two brothers.
Funeral services were held July 28 at DeJong-Neiser Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Mulch officiating. Burial was in Franklin Cemetery.
DeJong-Neiser Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
