Henry Hurt

Funeral services for Henry E. Hurt, 76, Basco, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Neiser Funeral Home in Carthage with the Rev. Leslie Stewart officiating.  Burial was in the Franklin Cemetery east of Carthage.

Mr. Hurt died Monday morning, Jan. 27, 1975, in Graham Hospital in Keokuk, Ia., where he had been a patient about three weeks.

He was born Sept. 13, 1898, in Floyd County, Va., a son of Cornelius and Martha Delaney Hurt.  He married Jennie Ellen Cooper June 23, 1923, in Hamilton.  He was employed by the CB&Q Railroad for many years and served 13 years as superintendent of streets in Carthage.  He has lived on a farm south of Basco about 30 years.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Carthage.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Harvey (Swanee) Franks of Carthage; a sister, Mrs. William (Rosa) Booth of Carthage; two brothers, Charlie and John of Carthage; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
