Column 6DEATH OF CORNELIUS HURT
Cornelius Hurt, son of William and Barthenia Reed Hurt was born in Floyd County Virginia, December 27, 1874. He was married to Martha J. Dulaney in his home county about 38 years ago and for the last 16 years has been a resident of Illinois. In the summer of 1927 his wife departed this life and left he and the seven children to mourn her departure.
He died April 18, 1930 about 9:45 p. m. at his home in this city leaving the seven children; Elmer of Ferris; John, Nicol, Henry, Rosa Ranson, and Charles of Carthage, besides grandchildren and brothers and sisters back in the old home state of Virginia.
He was early identified with Christianity being for a number of years a member of the Dunkard Church.
His family are consoled and comforted by the fact that he had many friends who deeply and truly sympathize with them in his passing from this life.
The funeral services were held at Hearne's Funeral Chapel Sunday afternoon. Burial at Moss Ridge.
Note: Cornelius Hurt is actually buried in Franklin Cemetery.
