Jimmy Gale Huls

WOODLAWN, Ill. -- Jimmy Gale Huls, 61, of Woodlawn, Ill., and formerly of Hancock County, Ill., died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 25, 1945, in Keokuk, the son of Ernest and Mardelle Launer Huls.

He was united in marriage to Cheryl VanHove on Aug. 2, 1964, in Basco, Ill.  She survives.

He attended school in Warsaw, graduating from Warsaw High School in 1963.

In 1968, he joined the Illinois State Police and worked in Districts 13 and 14 for more than 35 years, retiring on July 31, 2005, because of his health.  He had worked with the truck team in District 13 for 17 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpentry work.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Mike Huls of Bowen, Ill., and Jamie Huls and his wife, Esta, of Mascotte, Fla.; his mother, Mardelle Reed of Basco; a brother, Gary Huls of Basco; a sister, Bonnie LaFeber and her husband, Jack, of Basco; a grandson, Justin; a granddaughter, Kacy; and a great-granddaughter, Aeryanna.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Huls in 1995, and his father, Ernest, in 1978.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Printy Funeral Home, Carthage, Ill.

Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery south of Carthage.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

JIMMY HULS

Jimmy Gale Huls, 61, of Woodlawn, formerly of Hancock County, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at his home in Woodlawn.

He was born Aug. 25, 1945, the son of Ernest and Mardelle (Launer) Huls in Keokuk, Iowa.  On Aug. 2, 1964, he married Cheryl VanHove in Basco.
