Irene Fredericka Louring Huls, 88, of Basco, died Monday, July 3, 2006, at at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
She was born Jan. 24, 1918, in rural Carthage, a daughter of William and Mary Martens Louring. On Dec. 1, 1937, she married Albert Huls in West Ely, Mo. He died June 21, 2004.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Immanual Lutheran Church, south of Carthage. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.

Irene Fredericka Louring Huls, 88, of Basco, died Monday, July 3, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
She was born Jan. 24, 1918, in rural Carthage, a daughter of William and Mary Martens Louring. On Dec. 1, 1937, she married Albert Huls in West Ely, Mo. He died June 21, 2004.
She is survived by four children, Clifford (Sharon) Huls of Bentley, Vernon (Anastasia) Huls of Wilmette, Lorna Plowman of Columbia, Mo., and Dennis (Marty) Huls of Carthage; two sisters, Leota Fink of Carthage and Deloris Hartweg of Fallon, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one infant daughter, Lois Marie.
She was a lifelong homemaker, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Basco, where she was an avid quilter. She was a member of the Ruth Circle. She was a member of the Basco Walkers, The Ladies Card Club, and a founder of the Bentley Saddle Club. Her love of quilts and sewing will be carried on through her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 6, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, south of Carthage. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
