SUMMITVILLE --- A funeral for Floyd Mearl Howard, 65, of Summitville, who died Tuesday in Keokuk Area Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Schmidt-Vigen Memorial Home, 1328 Concert St., with Brother Bill Hauser officiating.
Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery north of Keokuk on Iowa 218.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Thursday with family meeting friends at 7-9 p.m.
He was born Feb. 4, 1915, at Dhindia, Ill., the son of William and Maude Dunn Howard. He married Helen Bryant in 1935 at Kahoka, Mo.
He was employed at Foote Mineral Company of Keokuk and previously at Midwest Carbide Corporation of Keokuk for 13 years. He had been retired for five years.
He was a member of Operating Engineers Union, Local 148, and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; daughter Mrs. Robert (Mary Helen) Mason of Keokuk; brothers Marvin of Keokuk and Harry of Warington, Mo.; sisters Jane Chaknine of Keokuk and Ocie Vuckanan of Centralia, Ill.; uncle Frank Dunn of Keokuk; aunt Mrs. Raymond Riley of Keokuk; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, two sons and a daughter.
